Legal Action
Legal Action: State Capture: Research and Action engages in and supports civil and criminal litigation, makes recommendations for targeted and sectoral sanctions and export controls, and engages with international judicial and quasi-judicial mechanisms. Our lawyers have extensive experience in international and domestic criminal law, human rights, sanctions, and financial crimes. We follow our legal action with advocacy and media campaigns. The goal of this strand is to expose and hold accountable key actors involved in or facilitating state capture, disrupt the flows of capital and repressive technology and arms, prevent or deter harmful conduct, and obtain reparations for victims. All activities under this strand are done with legal mentees from affected regions – as part of our on-the-job training and mentoring programme.
